Tasmania has a lot to offer in a small space so if you have some extra time either side of these workshops or retreat, please have a look around. www.discovertasmania.com has some good recommendations of activities. For the nature lovers, local beaches and Mount Wellington in Hobart offer good short walks and if you have more time Cradle Mountain and Freycinet National Parks are both worth an overnight visit. Shoppers often visit the Salamanca Market on a Saturday in particular, although there is good shopping in many of the galleries in Salamanca any time of the week. To see the city from a different perspective, Hobart waterfront offers several good boat trips on the river.
As it is autumn, the weather may be very cool and the days are short. So bring your warmest gear (if you are coming from South East Asia – medium warm gear for Canadians and North Americans) and be prepared for rapid changes of temperature and conditions. We have many warm and sunny days too during that time. We regularly experience all four seasons in one day though you won’t see snow or frost at sea level.
