Remedial - therapeutic massage

Remedial - therapeutic massage is used to help treat muscular pain or dysfunction. If you are experiencing tightness, restriction of movement, or muscular pain within the body then Remedial – therapeutic massage will very likely be of benefit to you in treating these or similar symptoms.

Some typical symptoms that I have found that can be treated successfully with Remedial - therapeutic massage are:

  • Headaches
  • Neck, shoulder, & lower back pain
  • Restricted movement in the neck, shoulder, & lower back
  • Muscle and joint stiffness
  • Sprains and strains
  • Sporting injuries
  • Workplace injuries
  • Motor vehicle injuries.

The treatment plan will depend on the severity and longevity of your symptoms. Some clients may only require one session to alleviate the symptoms, while other more chronic conditions may require longer treatment. Generally I have found that two to three sessions over a month have shown to best alleviate symptoms. Some clients have then chosen to have further sessions to:

  • Maintain their level of wellbeing or
  • To seek further improvement through a treatment plan.

Remedial - therapeutic massage includes a range of specialist massage techniques and stretching to assist the body at a more therapeutic level. Deep tissue massage techniques are often incorporated into a Remedial - therapeutic massage session if needed. Also within Remedial - therapeutic massage, relaxation is regularly incorporated to assist the healing process.

Deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is best described as a method of massage to work the deeper layers of the body, including the muscles & the fascia.

Deep tissue massage is applied in a slow and compassionate way so that you and your whole body & self can relax into the depth of the massage.

This massage is utilised to:

  • Assist the body and whole self in its healing process
  • In treating chronic muscular conditions in particular long-term shoulder,neck and back problems
  • In treating postural causes of pain and restriction of movement within the body

A typical Deep tissue massage with me incorporates some Remedial & Relaxation massage techniques to assist the body & whole self in the healing process.

Relaxation massage

Relaxation massage is all about relaxing and becoming more calm and peaceful. The more we relax the more chance our body has of healing and repairing itself through its natural healing process.

In Relaxation massage slow subtle pressure and movement of the body tissue is used to slow down the body and the mind. As the body slows down we can feel and enjoy the gentle touch of the massage. The body can respond to this gentle and caring touch by letting go of tightness, restriction and pain.

Relaxation massage can be from as little as 30 minutes up to 2 hours. The choice is yours. Generally people find that at least one hour is required to firstly relax and to enjoy the massage in a deeper way with longer term benefits. To help you to relax deeply the massage is performed in a warm and beautiful room the invites you to relax.

Sports massage

Sports massage incorporates Remedial, Relaxation, Deep tissue, & sports specific massage techniques. It is for the person who is physically active.

  • Before your activity Sports massage will assist you to be better prepared and relaxed
  • After the activity it will assist you in your recovery and with improving of your abilities medium to longer term.

I have also worked with various sports teams, helping them to perform to a high standard through Sports massage. Through my own experiences & working with sports teams I have come to understand the importance of massage for those people who lead an active life, or participate in sport.

Maintenance massage

Maintenance massage is a term I use to describe a particular treatment plan. The plan is to incorporate massage into our life on a regular basis to maintain our health and wellbeing. Maintenance massage is used to prevent the onset of tightness, restriction of movement, or pain in the body due to our lifestyle, work habits, leisure activities and aging.

If you have felt the benefit massage gives to your body and want to maintain that benefit, then having a regular massage for maintenance is the most beneficial way of using massage to help you.

You just need to decide to have a regular massage on a time frame that works for your body and lifestyle. For some people this can be weekly, and others every two months. The idea being that rather than wait for something to go wrong with your body, we assist your body to maintain a certain level of wellbeing. The regularity is what is important.

By having a regular massage people have found that it assists their body and whole self to maintain their level of lifestyle, activity and wellbeing. Muscular tightness and pain comes and goes rather than becoming chronic.

Maintenance massage incorporates techniques from Relaxation, Remedial - therapeutic & Deep tissue massage.

Reiki Tummo

Reiki is the channelling of universal healing energy to assist the body & whole self in the healing process. Reiki energy is very subtle and helps to cleanse negative energy from the body & whole self. This negative energy can be responsible for the pain & limitations within our body & whole self.

As the Reiki energy cleanses the negative energy, the body & whole self can experience a greater level of wellness. The Reiki energy can also cleanse & help our spiritual heart. This is unique to the Reiki Tummo energy I have learned to channel.

As our spiritual heart is cleansed of negativities our heart can open bigger and we can experience life with more happiness and healthy.

Receiving a Reiki session is very relaxing and calming. You can book a reiki treatment by itself ... I have also seen good results when past clients booked a half massage / half reiki hour.
