Heart Meditations & Workshops
‘When you begin to touch your heart or let your heart be touched, you begin to discover that it's bottomless, that it doesn't have any resolution, that this heart is huge, vast and limitless.’
Pema Chodron

The Lotus Centre offers a range of regular meditations, workshops and activities for learning how to use our heart (our spiritual heart) more:
Heart Strengthening & Meditation Survey & Stories
In August 2009 Lotus Centre volunteers conducted a survey of participants who were attending the heart awareness, heart strengthening and heart meditations offered to the community.
Participants were asked to rate their experience and to share stories and their learning about the heart and its importance for their wellbeing and health.
Their stories and related data were presented to a national health conference committee at the end of 2009 in Victoria.
The following Abstract (summary of findings) was submitted. Another participant's story was submitted, accepted and displayed at the event.
The intention was to share participants' experiences and stories who had been learning about the heart, utilising it in relaxation and mediation and the impact it made to them.
A heart-felt THANK YOU to all who contributed - the Lotus Centre team and volunteers.
About our Heart
The heart that is referred to and used in the meditations, practices and workshops is:
- The spiritual heart ... also referred to as
- Our 'centre of feeling'
- Our centre of calmness and inner peace
- The centre of deep inner knowing; and
- The key to health, healing, lasting joy and spiritual growth
... often significantly improving family, work & social life.
The Heart is well-known in popular wisdom, spiritual or religious texts or in general literature as something within us, something of profound wisdom or knowing.
‘The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.’
Helen Keller
The Heart, as a source of higher knowing within all of us, can also offer profound inner guidance for major decisions and in every moment. The Heart has the capacity to capture and process information far exceeding the capacity of a logical mind.
By using the heart more, we can tap more directly and with confidence into something we may call "gut feeling", 'intuition" etc. so we can learn to truly follow our hearts more.
In organisations or businesses well-known management consultants and successful managers have long acknowledged this aspect and included e.g. "intuition" as a core competency into their programs.
'When all is said and done, the only change that will make a difference is the transformation of the human heart.'
Peter Senge
By learning to connect to the heart more, health, life-balance and learning can improve significantly resulting in enhanced relationships with others at work, at home; with added impact on personal energy levels, inner connectedness, guidance & insights and new level of happiness.
our weekly heart meditations and our heart workshops at The Lotus Centre in Hobart offer a unique introduction to the Heart in a central, beautiful and calming environment.
